Harvey MG-36PRO-M Precision Mitre Gauge

Essential to every table saw owner is an accurate sliding mitre gauge. Unfortunately, most stock mitre gauges are either too sloppy or poorly made so that repeatable cuts are next to impossible. With these failings in mind, Harvey engineers designed the COMPASS MG-36Pro Miter Gauge.

The MG-36PRO will achieve repeatable results every time it is used, saving precious time and money by eliminating mistakes. Harvey are so pleased with this mitre guide they include it as standard with their premium Alpha range of table saws. It is also compatible with the Harvey Alpha HW615E Bandsaw.

Additionally, the MG-36PRO is compatible with any other table saw or bandsaw which has the appropriate sized T-slot in the table.

Extra Long Mitre Guide Bar

The mitre bar has a length of 560mm (22″) providing maximum support for crosscuts.

Mitre Guide Bar Fit Adjustment 

The adjustment mechanism consists of five eccentric blocks which can be adjusted to take up any slack, effectively eliminating the gap between the mitre bar and the T-slot. These convenient and simple adjusters allow the mitre guide to be fitted to any table with a 19mm x 25mm (3/4″ x 1″) T-slot. It will slide smoothly across the table.

Unbeatable Angular Accuracy

Unlike any other miter gauge on the market today, the Compass MG-36Pro Miter Gauge achieves precise angular settings by eliminating any play in the locking system.

There are 11 positively indexed stops covering the most commonly used angles. Adjusting the angle from 90 degrees to one of these presets requires only a press of the trigger.  With the use of only two fingers, the tension that keeps the spherical locking pin in place is released allowing the miter gauge to pivot, and index, to all of the most common miter angles. When the trigger is released, the tapered grooves re-engage securing the angle with perfect accuracy.

Positive Stops

COMPASS MG-36Pro has 11 preset positive stops: ±60°, ±45°, ±30°, ±22.5°, ±15° and 0°.

Precision Vernier Scale

The guide can also be manually set to any other angle. The trigger can be locked back to allow manual setting using the laser etched graduations on the scale which are marked in 1 degree intervals.

If even finer adjustment is demanded, there is also a vernier scale with graduations marked in 0.9 degree intervals. By using these in combination the accuracy of the scale is an incredible 0.1 degrees.

Crosscutting Fence

The standard heavy-duty, black anodized crosscutting fence of the MG-36PRO is a CNC milled extrusion of 6061-T6 aluminum.

The whole fence can be moved smoothly left and right by loosening two knobs. The length of the fence is 550mm which is extendable to 915mm by sliding out the internal extension bar. The fence has a slot running along the top of its length to accommodate the sliding length stop and a laser etched scaled with 1mm graduations.

Micro-Adjustable Flip Over Length Stop 

The flip stop assembly slides in a groove on top of the fence and can be locked anywhere you choose. It can be used in conjunction with the extension to give a huge measuring capacity of 915mm.

Once locked in place, it is possible to make micro adjustments in 0.02mm increments. All graduations are laser etched.

The locking knob on the flip stop assembly has been strategically placed at the center of the entire assembly, greatly boosting the overall stability of the assembly while making adjustments.

When crosscutting pieces without a square face on the end, a mitered piece maybe, it can be indexed on the bevel by fitting the brass locating pin into the end of the flipper.

Unique Elbow Joint

An elbow joint has been added to the flip over stop, allowing the clearance for it to be used even when a sacrificial sub fence has been installed.

Premium Materials and Craftsmanship

The Compass MG-36Pro is designed with longevity in mind. All parts are CNC machined, all aluminum parts are anodized and the remaining components are either made from stainless steel or brass (no plastic).
