Nickel-plated Cast Iron Worktable

A substantial 500mm x 500mm (20” x 20″) cast iron table offers a sturdy and expansive work area, treated with nickel-plating to resist rust and wear, ensuring exceptional resistance to rust and wear, which markedly extends its service life.

Superior Durability and Resistance: The table undergoes a chemical nickel-plating process that bonds the nickel layer thickly to the base material, reaching an impressive hardness range of 500 HV to 700 HV, significantly enhancing its durability and resistance to corrosion and wear. Extensive friction tests using wooden blocks consistently demonstrated that the nickel layer effectively protected the table surface.

Additionally, Harvey conducted a series of high-temperature and strong acid corrosion tests to evaluate the longevity of the nickel-plated parts. The results indicated that, under normal usage conditions, the nickel-plated surfaces could maintain their rust prevention performance for many years. Notably, even in highly humid working environments, they exhibited exceptional rust prevention capabilities. This ensures rust resistance and longevity.

Nickel-plated Worm Gear Table Tilting System

The nickel plating of the cast iron table trunions and the entire Worm Gear Tilting System offers enhanced resistance to corrosion and wear, making the HW615E virtually maintenance-free for rust prevention.

Reinforced Structural Steel Frame

The reinforced solid steel frame provides remarkable rigidity and stability, enhancing durability and performance under the most demanding conditions. At 200kg, the Harvey bandsaw is 50% heavier than comparable models from other brands.

Large Work Table

Precisely tilt the worktable from 45 degrees to -15 degrees using a robust worm-gear system with a heavy-duty hand wheel. A gas filled spring overcomes the weight of the large table allowing even micro-adjustments to be made smoothly. A hinged 90 degree stop allows the table to tilt backwards to -15 degrees.

The table has 2 T-slots for installing a mitre guide, one on either side of the blade.

The table insert is an aluminium plate with adjusting screws to ensure flush fitting.

Bearing Blade Guides with Tool-less Adjustment

Twin bearing blade guides sit each side of the blade, adjusted on a cam system and locked with a metal wingnut. At the rear of the blade a large diameter thrust wheel provides support to the blade during the cut. The same blade guide systems is also fitted below the table. The tool-less adjustment and locking knobs are thoughtfully designed to provide easy access and make it a pleasure to use.

Precision Hi-Low Fence with solid T-square Structure

The front rail is a structural steel tube, providing strength and rigidity, allowing for more precise fence settings. The solid T-square fence bracket glides along the front rail. Four adjustable nylon pads set the height of the fence relative to the table and the squareness of the fence. A guide at the far end of the fence prevents any rotation during re-positioning of the fence making a smooth transition and allowing accurate minute adjustments.

The fence is an extra tall 155mm made of high strength extruded aluminium. The fence can be fitted in the High or Low position to accommodate the size of the work piece. In the vertical position, the fence provides stability for re-sawing applications. In the horizontal position, there is clearance for cutting narrow strips in thin material.

COMPASS RG-2 Roller Guide

In order to enhance operator safety and user experience, the HW615 is supplied with the COMPASS RG-2 Roller Guide. The main body of RG-2 is made of anodized aircraft-grade aluminium with high precision machining and beautiful anodizing.

The roller guide utilizes an ‘Independent Suspension Mechanism’ where each roller has its own pre-loaded spring. This design enables the two guide rollers to adapt to uneven wood surfaces with consistent holding pressure by moving independently.

The self-locking cam structure allows for precise holding force adjustment by rotating the knob to optimize pressure for specific cutting situations. It offers an adjustable range of approximately 70 – 100 N (15 – 22 lbs).

Control Panel

The bandsaw is fitted with a power lock. A key is required to activate it. The key is removable to prevent unauthorised use of the machine.

A 3 position switch is used to ‘start’ and ‘stop’ the motor.  The motor is fitted with a powerful automatic braking system to quickly bring the wheels to a stop when power is turned off. The third switch position is used to disengage the brake, when the power is off, to allow the operator to hand spin the wheels when installing a new blade and checking the tracking. A fantastic feature often overlooked on other bandsaws!

The panel is completed with an emergency stop switch.

Safety Switches

Safety shut off switches operate for both doors. The upper and lower cabinet doors are equipped with safety switches which automatically shut off the machine or prevent starting when a door is opened.

In addition there is also a foot pedal switch which will immediately stop the saw blade when activated.

Superior Motor Power

The input of the motor is a huge 2.6 kW (3.5hp). Motor output, measured at the shaft, is 2.2kW (3.0hp). The industrial grade motor supplies plenty of power even when cutting at the full depth capacity. The motor is fitted with thermal overload protection which will cut the power if overheating is detected.

Dust Extraction

Efficient dust extraction is an essential part of all woodworking machines. The HW615E bandsaw is fitted with two dust ports, each 100mm diameter. One sits just underneath the table, the other at the bottom of the cabinet. It is recommended that both ports are connected to an extractor.

1/2″ Width saw blade, tool holder for storing service tools, 4 adjustable feet, 2.0m power cable and 16 amp industrial plug.

A 16 amp, 240v electric supply is required to run this machine. We also recommend using a 16amp Type C breaker.
