W813 Floor Standing Lathe
An excellent all rounder which makes a very good first lathe. Although the overall design has not changed for many years we have given this lathe a make over and upgraded many of the components.
A one-piece cast iron bed provides a stable platform for turning spindles up to 32″ in Length. The headstock, tailstock and tool rest banjo are also made from cast iron giving this lathe solid feel and a long life span.
A lever mounted on the headstock is used to control the rotation speed of the spindle. There are 10 speed options, which can be selected without a belt change, combined with a digital speed readout to accurately display the rpm speed of the spindle. The spindle has an M33 x 3.5 thread, for mounting scroll chucks or face plates, and an MT2 fitting for the drive centre. A chromed hand wheel is provided to manually rotate the spindle to check progress when required.
Another great feature of this lathe is the ability to rotate the headstock. This design allows for larger bowls of up to 15″ in diameter to be turned, by rotating the headstock through 90 degrees. A bed extension is fitted to the left of the headstock which allows the tool rest extension to be moved to a comfortable position for bowl turning.
The tool rest banjo slides smoothly along the bed and can be locked securely into place using chromed cam-lock lever. The tool rest itself is our ever popular round bar made from hardened steel. Optional shapes and sizes of tool rest are also available.
The sliding tail stock also uses a long cam-lock lever to lock its position along the bed. The quill has an MT2 fitting to accept our heavy duty revolving centre which is supplied as standard. The centre can be wound in or out using a chromed handwheel with a range of 50mm travel. The tailstock has a hollow centre to allow long hole boring.
The floor stand has a shelf to keep your chisels handy and ready to grab. There are fixing points welded into the legs to secure the lathe to the floor.
Supplied with floor stand, 25mm diameter 4 prong drive centre with spring loaded centre point, 43mm diameter revolving tail centre, 150mm diameter faceplate, knock out bar, onboard tool storage tray, 2.5m power cable and UK 3 pin plug.
The optional wheelbase is an excellent addition for anybody who needs to move this lathe around the workshop.
VIPER3RPACK Viper3R Scroll Chuck with 4 Sets of jaws in storage case
The most comprehensive woodturners chuck package available. The package consists of:
VIPER3R Geared Scroll Chuck with M33 x 3.5 Thread
Standard Dovetail Jaws
Pin Jaws
Stepped Jaws
Wide Jaws
Face Plate
4 Prong Drive centre
Wood Screw
T Handle Square Drive
T Handle Hex Key
Aluminium Storage Case
The Viper3 chuck is the best selling size from the Charnwood Viper range. A 4″ sized scroll chuck, with the jaws adjusted by a geared mechanism for simple one handed operation. Self centring, high precision design. Ideal for Midi sized lathes and upwards. The fully enclosed design prevents the build up of chips and dust inside the gear mechanism.
The chuck fits directly onto lathes with headstock thread size M33x3.5 for all other sizes an optional insert is required.
For lathes with reverse direction, locking screws allow the chuck to be locked onto the lathe spindle, providing the lathe conforms to DIN800 or T38 design. Reverse direction should only be used when the chuck is mounted directly onto an M33 x 3.5 spindle thread. It should not be used in reverse when using a thread adapter.
The standard dovetail jaws can grip the work piece both internally or externally depending on the style and shape of the piece to be turned.
Pin jaws allow smaller pieces to held than the standard jaws. The inside is smooth and parallel, the outside is serrated for maximum grip.
The Stepped jaws have a serrated edge both internally and externally. They give great flexibility by combining standard sized jaws and pin jaws.
The Wide jaws have a serrated edge both internally and externally and can grip much larger pieces than the standard jaws.
The Face Plate ring has a 75mm outside diameter and has a dovetail shaped inside which can be gripped by using the standard Viper3 jaws.
The Drive Centre allows spindles to be turned without removing your chuck from the lathe.
We also include a wood screw which clamps into the centre of the chuck for the initial mounting of bowl blanks. Use a 5/16″ or 8mm diameter drill bit to drill the blank.
T-Handle square drive for locking the jaws.
T-handled hex key for swapping the jaws.
The storage case has a foam liner to keep your chuck and all the accessories safe and ready to use.
M2CSET6 Cryo Hardened M2 HSS Woodturning Chisel Set
Premium quality set of 6 woodturning chisels for spindle and bowl turning.
Cryogenic treatment of M2 HSS means this steel has been subjected to a complex immersion procedure at temperatures as low as minus 195C. The result is that the High Speed steel has a hardness of 65HRC. That is extremely hard. Typical HSS chisels are 58HRC. A higher hardness level improves wear resistance and edge-holding ability, ensuring that your tools stay sharper for longer, typically 5 times longer than standard HSS chisels.
With M2C chisels you spend more time turning: less time sharpening. When it is time for sharpening the blades are remarkably fast and easy to sharpen, as they allow you to remove less material to produce a perfect razor sharp edge.
6 Piece set includes:
28mm (1″) Roughing Gouge, 19mm (3/4″) Flute Width
19mm (3/4″) Flat Skew Chisel
