The midi sized lathe continues to be the best seller. It is a size which can accomplish most of the projects turners are likely to try and is the largest lathe which can comfortably be moved off the bench when not in use. We have developed ours further this year to now include an indexing system on the headstock spindle as well as more robust electronics, specifically designed for UK voltage.

The bed of the lathe is one-piece precision ground cast iron giving 14″ between centres when working with our new heavy duty centres, which are supplied as standard. The bowl turning capacity of 12″ diameter over the bed, requires a very low speed which is achieved using a converter and a DC motor. A clear LCD display shows the current RPM.

The tool rest banjo is a cam-lock design for rapid adjustments with all metal components. The tool rest itself is our ever popular round bar made from hardened steel

The headstock is hollow centred to allow for easy tool removal, the tailstock is also hollow and has automatic centre removal.

Supplied with drive and tail centres 2MT, knockout bar, 6″ toolrest with 5/8″ shank, 3″ diameter faceplate, tool holder, carrying handles, cable tidy, 1.9m power cable and 3 pin UK plug.

N.B. The distance between centres will vary and be dependent on the type of centres or accessories used. Maximum distance is 450mm (18″).

Just purchased this lathe very very pleased well made and quiet.first class

I purchased one of these lathes as a smaller alternative to my huge Axminster to do some smaller turning on. It is solid and well made yet it is still light enough to be portable if needed. The most surprising aspect is how quietly it runs… definitely quieter than my Axminster! Add the variable speed control to this and you have a very versatile flexible machine. My one gripe is the plastic housing to the rear of the headstock. Firstly it covers the hand wheel which is a useful feature for slowing or rotating the work piece in the chuck. Also it locks into place using a plastic clip that locates onto a pin… This is not, in my opinion, the best design idea and also the clip on mine was already broken when I received it and so is obviously not very durable. Even with that in mind though I would not hesitate to recommend both this machine and this brand to any wood turner as mechanically it is superb and at a decent price compared to other like models.

I am new to woodturning, so this was my first lathe. I have to say having used it for two or three weeks it was an excellent entry level machine. Delivery was excellent and the company ‘Top Notch’. The lathe is solidly built yet moveable if required with its fitted handles. The speed control is a must and I am glad I paid more for that item. I paid more than this price but it came with a Viper 2 chuck which has been a god send. I fully recommend this machine to any beginners like me and the company are superb.
Thanks Charnwood for my new hobby.
