A heavy duty trade rated Drum Sander with variable speed conveyor and variable speed drum.
With a large capacity sanding width of 560mm (22″) in a single pass it is ideally suited to commercial applications. For work even wider than that, the end plate can be removed increasing the capacity to 1120mm (44″) using 2 passes.
The sanding drum is powered by a 1500w motor connected through an inverter, made by Delta in Taiwan, to give a variable speed range from 0 – 1500 rpm. Most wood sanding operations will use a speed around 1400 rpm, it can be slowed down when working with other more delicate materials or when using one of the optional drum heads.
The conveyor belt also has electronic variable speed with a range of 0 – 7.5 m/min. With this range, a burn free finish and a high production rate can always be achieved. The conveyor itself is made from a hard wearing rubber giving a high grip durable surface. Built in tracking adjusters will keep the conveyor running in line.
The sander incorporates load sensing technology which monitors the load on the drum and automatically reduces the conveyor feed speed to maintain the highest possible feed rate without overloading the motor.
When working with longer lengths, the conveyor belt is backed up by large Infeed and outfeed support tables increasing the total supported length to 1180mm,
A large cast iron hand wheel controls the finished thickness. Each rotation moves the head by 2mm. A scale is provided marked in both metric and imperial to read the setting. When a more accurate thickness is required, on the final pass maybe, a mechanical digital display shows the finished thickness down to 1/10th of a millimetre. For exact replication when sanding multiple components the height can be locked in, using a pair of nuts on the rise & fall shaft. The floating end also has a lock to secure the head once the height has been set.
Efficient dust extraction is of course essential with all sanders. A 100mm diameter outlet sits on top of the drum to connect a hose and a flowrate of 1000m3/hour is recommended.
The sander sits on a welded steel cabinet with an access door providing a storage area for spare wraps.
Supplied with 80 grit sanding wrap, 4 adjustable feet, 2.0m power cable, industrial 16amp plug.
A 16 amp fixed electric supply is required to run this machine. We also recommend using a 16amp Type C breaker.
