The small cog which is used to adjust the blade guide up and down on many different models of bandsaw.
If the blade guard becomes stiff to adjust, it is probably just clogged up with sawdust. It can be stripped down and cleaned, see the Downloads section for instructions on how to do that.
If the cog is damaged or broken it will need to be replaced. It simply pushes onto the shaft, with a flat to lock it into position. It must be fitted the correct way round so that the leading face of the cog is flush with the end of the shaft.
