MCW24H Shogun 250mm Deep Cut Dozuki Saw
Japanese saws fundamentally differ from Western saws as they cut on the pull stroke, rather than the push. This means that Japanese saw blades can be made from incredibly thin steel, only removing a tiny amount of waste wood. The advantages to the user are: a lighter weight tool to handle, effortless cutting through all types of timber and man made boards, greater accuracy through greater control.
To ensure the highest level of accuracy, the Dozuki style saw has a steel spine along the top of the blade keeping it rigid at all times.
The teeth of the blade go through a hardening process known as Electrical-pulse hardening which maintains the sharpness up to 3 times longer than conventional saws. This particular Dozuki saw has a fine tooth pitch to give a smooth finish to the cut.
Applications include dovetailing, tenoning, cross-cutting, box making and general cabinet making.
This extra deep cut Dozuki saw can cut to a depth up to 50mm along the full blade and 65mm at the wider end.
The blade fixes to a traditional Japanese rattan wrapped wooden handle that offers fantastic control.
FL150 Shogun 150mm Flush Cut Saw
The Shogun FL150 flush cut pull saw features a 150mm long ultra thin flexible blade with no tooth set. The teeth are perfectly in line with the blade plate.
Specifically designed for the flush trimming of wooden dowels and plugs without the risk of scratching the surrounding surface.
The highly flexible blade allows access into tight corners.
A wooden handle provides a comfortable grip.
Woodturners use these saws as an alternative parting tool.
MC2424H Shogun Ryoba Saw
The Ryoba is a Japanese pull saw with teeth on both edges of the blade. It is one of the more unusual looking Japanese saws, however do not discount it, because it is actually the perfect all in one solution and is the most economical way to cover all your workshop requirements.
The Shogun MC2424H is a 2 in 1 saw with one edge for Crosscutting (across the grain of the timber) and one edge for Rip cutting (parallel to the grain of the timber). The 2 edges are clearly marked for the different functions with differing tooth types to maximise efficiency for each function.
This saw is a true all round work horse for carpenters, joiners and woodworking hobbyists alike. It is equally at home in softwoods, hardwoods, green or oily timbers.
The blade fixes to a Paulownia wooden handle with a traditional looking wrap which offers fantastic control.

Why Use A Japanese Pull Saw?
Harder Steel – Stays Sharp Longer
Cuts On Pull Action – Higher Cutting Accuracy
Requires Less Effort – Thinner blade is Light Weight To Use
The most noticeable design feature of a Japanese saw is that the teeth are angled backwards towards the handle. When in use, the cutting action is on the pull-stroke hence Japanese saws are often referred to as pull saws. The saw is designed to cut as you draw it through the timber, totally the opposite to a traditional western saw. The benefit of the pull saw design, is that as much pressure as desired can be applied to the cut without fear of the blade buckling. This gentle method of sawing also ensures far more accuracy and a much thinner blade can be used which equals less resistance and a faster cut.
