Powered by a 3hp Induction motor rated for continuous running, up to 8 hours per day. A rigid frame supports the fan unit and lifts the inlet port to a height of 110cm, which can give increased efficiency when a hose branch goes overhead or stays up at bench height.
These collectors are suitable for locations where the extractor will be cited a little distant from the dust source. The higher flowrate also allows a small system of hose branch lines to be fitted around the workshop to allow extraction from a variety of machines and even up to 3 at the same time.
The motor drives a riveted steel fan which creates the airflow, depositing all dust, chips and shavings into the collection bags. The two collection bags fill equally and are generally emptied at the same time.
When it comes to emptying the collection bag, a quick release metal strap frees the bag, ready for replacement. Spring clamps hold the new collection bag in position whilst the metal strap is being refitted. Anyone who has changed a bag without that feature will certainly appreciate it. A foam strip around the rim of the collector body ensures a good seal once the strap is clamped shut.
The standard cloth filtration bag is replaced with a cartridge filter to increase the filtration performance down to a super fine, 1 micron particle size. The extra deep pleats in the filter material, increase the surface area of the filter so that there is no loss in air flow compared to the original cloth filter.
This allows the extractor to be used for operations which produce very fine dust such as sanding and cutting MDF. The particle size of fine woodworking dust is generally between 2 and 3 microns. Research shows 99% of wood dust, produced by machining softwood, hardwood or MDF, is within that range. The extractor can still be used with all the normal workshop machines which produce dust and chips, such as: bandsaws, table saws, planers, thicknessers and spindle moulders.
To ensure a long life without any deterioration in performance the filter includes an internal cleaning device. Gently rotating the handle, moves the internal paddles which clean the inside of the filter and prevent clogging.
Maximum recommended total hose length per run is 10 metres @100mm diameter.
Supplied with transparent collection bag, durable steel fan, NVR switch, 4 castors, quick release metal straps, 3 way splitter and 1.6m power cable (No plug).
A 16 amp, 240v electric supply is required to run this machine. We also recommend using a 16amp Type C breaker.
Hose is not supplied as standard, our 100mm diameter transparent hose is recommended, sold by the metre.
How Often Should The Filters Be Cleaned?
To maintain optimum performance, we recommend: Every time the extractor is turned off, or every 15 minutes during prolonged periods of running. It can be cleaned whilst the extractor is still running.
What Is A Cleaning Cycle?
Rotate the handle 2 full turns in each direction. (To avoid the handles clashing, and to allow full 360 degree rotation, the handles should be fitted upside down. The opposite way to shown in the images above)
What Are The Symptoms Of A Clogged Filter?
1) Because the air cannot escape from inside the extractor there is a build up of pressure inside. Air will be forced out of joins and seals which are normally airtight. Dust might be seen leaking out from unexpected places.
2) There will be a significant drop in airflow, and therefore collection performance, of the extractor.
We also have a large range of accessories available for connecting your dust extractor to the dust producing machinery. Reducers to join the 100mm diameter hose to the smaller diameter outlets usually found on bench top machinery. Hoods to collect dust from machinery with no purpose made collection points.
