With full cast iron construction this bench lathe is 40% heavier and more stable than your average bench lathe.

Using a large 1hp motor allows the electronics to achieve a lowest speed of only 250rpm, with enough torque to be useful. The actual spindle speed is shown on a clear digital display.

The tool rest and tailstock both slide smoothly along the bed and are securely locked with a large cam action lever.

The tool rest itself is a round steel bar with optional lengths and shapes available, courtesy of Robert Sorby.

Supplied with drive centre, tail centre, 100mm diameter faceplate, knock out bar, adjustable rubber feet, 1.9m, power cable and UK 3 pin plug.

VIPER3R Scroll Chuck

The best selling size from the Charnwood Viper range. A 4″ sized scroll chuck, with the jaws adjusted by a geared mechanism for simple one handed operation. Self centring, high precision design. Ideal for Midi sized lathes and upwards. The fully enclosed design prevents the build up of chips and dust inside the gear mechanism.

The standard dovetail jaws can grip the workpiece both internally or externally depending on the style and shape of the piece to be turned.
The chuck fits directly onto lathes with headstock thread size M33 x 3.5tpi. for all other sizes an optional insert is required.

We also include a wood screw which clamps into the centre of the chuck for the initial mounting of bowl blanks.

Supplied with standard dovetail jaws, wood screw, T-bar for locking the jaws and T-handled hex key for swapping the jaws.

We have an extensive range of optional jaws and accessories available for the Viper range of chucks.

    the order arrived right on time, the lathe and chuck perform fantastic, so quiet when running ,no vibrations at all. its an excellent lathe .
    the only little problem i had was the stand for the lathe ,it had no bolts or screws to assemble it, i called in letting them know my problem and within several hours overnight the sent all i needed to assemble the very strong and stable stand.
    Well done the staff of charnwood, i will be certainly buying more from this company
